Safe Harbor C.A.R.E.S is a family intervention program focused on building resilience and self-regulation, with a parent and child component, to address a known trauma or when a child is exhibiting extremely challenging behaviors – we work to help the children develop resilience and self-regulation skills and increase their ability to be successful at home, in daycare or in the classroom, and with the parents to help them learn to support these new skills as well as develop their own evidence-based positive parenting techniques to encourage long-lasting change in the home and a strengthened bond between parent(s) and child(ren).
Parents for Parents is a statewide program (soon to be nationwide) that connects parents who have successfully navigated the child welfare system to parents who have recently become engaged with Child Protective Services. Our goal is to provide early outreach, education and support to parents who have entered the dependency system so they can be reconnected to their children in less time, with a greater success rate. We also provide parent allies with leadership and gateway employment opportunities as they provide support, knowledge and mentoring to parents new to the system. My Friends Place is our flagship program providing not just the necessities, but round-the-clock care and support to some of the most vulnerable children in our area.
We provide services to homeless teens ages 13-20 years old including drop in services (for those unable or unwilling to stay overnight) and overnight shelter, meals, clothing, showers, school supplies, laundry services, individualized case management, assistance with completing education, employment and more. We are currently expanding this program to house even more teens as demand continues to grow.
